Paws, Peace & Mur

Mur came into my life after my partner passed away.

He was a family cat, having spent several years with my daughter and then my son’s family, always going where he was most needed. I say most needed and think many of you will understand as our furry friends seem to pick us instead of the other way around.

I had no idea that I would have a furry live-in companion at this stage of my life because I am one to close up my place and just go, but the universe had another plan for me. I had taken on some projects that kept me grounded (literally), which also facilitated quite a few emotional rounds on that roller coaster of loss.

Mur is very giving in his affection and also very demanding of a lap to rest his 17 pounds on. He has been so therapeutic for me with his warmth and purr.  He welcomes me at the door, sits with me when I work and, is a considerate roommate.

Benefits of Animal Reiki for Cats
Gentle energy healing for your feline friend

Cats are naturally sensitive, intuitive creatures—and that’s exactly why Reiki works so beautifully with them. Animal Reiki is a gentle, non-invasive energy healing practice that supports your cat’s well-being on physical, emotional, and energetic levels. Whether your cat is anxious, recovering from illness, or simply aging gracefully, Reiki offers peace and balance in a way that meets them right where they are.

Here are five benefits of Animal Reiki for cats:

1. Reduces Stress and Anxiety

Cats may seem independent, but they often internalize stress—from loud noises to changes in their environment. Reiki helps calm their nervous system, promoting a deep state of relaxation and safety.

2. Supports Healing and Recovery

Whether your cat is healing from surgery, injury, or illness, Reiki can support the natural healing process by improving energy flow and reducing discomfort. It works beautifully alongside veterinary care.

3. Enhances Bond and Trust

Many cats are cautious, especially with new people or surroundings. Reiki is offered with respect—never forced. This quiet approach can strengthen the bond between you and your cat and help build trust with others, too.

4. Improves Quality of Life for Senior Cats

Aging cats often face stiffness, pain, or confusion. Reiki sessions can ease physical discomfort and promote emotional peace, helping your senior cat feel more at ease during their golden years.

5. Balances Emotions and Behavior

If your cat exhibits behavioral issues—such as hiding, aggression, or over-grooming—Reiki can help identify and clear stuck energy patterns. Many pet parents notice more balanced behavior and a lighter mood after just a few sessions.

Final Thoughts
Animal Reiki isn’t about “fixing” your cat—it’s about creating a calm, supportive space for healing to unfold naturally. Cats are highly receptive to Reiki and often guide the session themselves. In their stillness, they teach us the true art of presence.

If you're curious about Reiki for your feline friend, consider a session and witness the quiet magic unfold—just like Mur did in my life. The number of Reiki sessions needed will vary depending on the situation and the individual cat. One session may suffice, or multiple sessions may be suggested.
